Hints on choosing your domain name
If you're in business, you should have your own domain name.
- Your domain name can then be yours for as long as you wish by paying a bi-annual registration fee. (Stay with Allsites and renewal is automatically included).
- Instead of using your ISP email address, your email address can now be at your own domain (eg. john@johnscatering.com.au)
Your domain name (eg. www.yourdomainname.com.au) should be either ...
- a derivative of your business name
- a description of the products or services you provide
However, option 1 is usually best, particularly if your business name also helps to describe what you do
(eg. www.abcplumbing.com.au, www.localaccountants.com.au, www.bestelectrics.com.au)
Option 1 also helps to 'brand' your business and set it apart from your competitors.
If you have a long business name, try to make your domain name a shorter derivative of it.
(eg. Northern Automotive Spare Parts could become www.autoparts.com.au)
If your domain name looks 'stange' when written without spaces, then you can put a dash/hyphen in it. However, don't use a hyphen just for the sake of it. Domain names in general are better without them. Only use a hyphen if the name appears confusing to read.
(eg. atomic-excavations.com.au looks better than atomicexcavations.com.au)
To find a suitable domain name, please visit www.netregistry.com.au
DO NOT register your domain name - we will register it and pay for it as part of your package.
Once you've chosen your domain name, enter it along with your website details.
